The township instantly approved my change in location, but there was a 40 foot cedar tree in the middle of it. I called my brother to see if he wanted to help me take it down. I could hear him grinning over the phone. He threw his chainsaw in his truck and was on his way.
Here is the tree. I didn't want to cut it down, but I saw no alternative. I will plant more trees to make up for it.
It's a two-trunk cedar tree. Here is an aerial view taken from my electric plane before the shed was moved:
I dug around the roots with the backhoe, tried to push it over. No go. Dug down deeper and closer to the tree until a little shove with the backhoe pushed it over. You can see the dug up earth and broken roots in the picture below. Click on it to see a little wmv video.
Here is the tree cut up. Many of the branches have been cut off and dragged to the street.
See the new mason's lines in the background.
After removing most of the small branches, I cut up the logs with my new chainsaw. Rrrrrrrr:
New lines painted, ready to dig again. The thick white line across the asphalt shows where I have to cut it to make way for the garage.
