Everyone needs a philosopher's chair. I made one out of a tree stump and an old chair in the woods in the back yard:
The stump rotted and the chair fell apart.
Then I made a bench out of big sticks, using a living tree as part of the support, but it also decomposed. Then I made a stout chair out of treated 4x4's, 2x4's and plywood, oiled any untreated wood with linseed oil. Here are some pictures during construction in 2001.
